Speaker Boehner Asks But Doesn’t Answer

July 12th, 2011

Speaker Boehner continues to ask Obama why the stimulus package has not created jobs and the answer is quite frankly it has. The last years of the Bush administration we were losing more jobs every month and after the stimulus package there was a direct reversal as the chart below shows.  The Republicans do not want to admit that slowing down the hemorrhaging of jobs is a positive step.  No one wants this high of unemployment, but without the stimulus package where would we be now?

My Question to Speaker Boehner and GOP

Mister Speaker, could you please justify this quote?

“What some are suggesting is that we take this money from people who would invest in our economy and create jobs and give it to the government. The fact is you can’t tax the very people that we expect to invest in the economy and create jobs,” said Speaker of the House John Boehner

Really !  The fact is tax rates have been at a forty year low for the last 10 1/2 years, so my question to you Mister Speaker is where are the jobs?  The truth is this trickle down economics history has proven to be bogus, which I will show below but I would argue it is even more flawed in this modern day world market.

There is nothing to say that the money the supper rich save with lower tax rates will even stay in this country and I would argue that it has been flowing out of this country to where ever the best ROI (Return on investment) can be found, and that is fine it’s their money to invest as they see fit, but don’t feed the American a bunch of BS and say raising the tax rate will kill jobs.

According to http://thinkprogress.org/

History doesn’t back up the GOP’s claim. In fact, as Center for American Progress Director of Tax and Budget Policy Michael Linden found, “in the past 60 years, job growth has actually been greater in years when the top income tax rate was much higher than it is now”:

For instance, in years when the top marginal rate was more than 90 percent, the average annual growth in total payroll employment was 2 percent. In years when the top marginal rate was 35 percent or less — which it is now — employment grew by an average of just 0.4 percent.

And there’s no cherry-picking here. Pick any threshold. When the marginal tax rate was 50 percent or above, annual employment growth averaged 2.3 percent, and when the rate was under 50, growth was half that.

In fact, if you ranked each year since 1950 by overall job growth, the top five years would all boast marginal tax rates at 70 percent or higher. The top 10 years would share marginal tax rates at 50 percent or higher. The two worst years, on the other hand, were 2008 and 2009, when the top marginal tax rate was 35 percent. In the 13 years that the top marginal tax rate has been at its current level or lower, only one year even cracks the top 20 in overall job creation.”

So Speaker Beohner or anyone else in the GOP how can you continue to tie lower tax rates to job creation when history does not support your claims?   And if lower taxes are the answer and we have been at the lowest rates in the last forty years for the last 10 1/2 years, then were are the jobs Speaker Beohner?

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to see higher tax rates on anyone, but I also don’t want to see cuts to Social Security, Medicare or the many other programs on the chopping block.  The sad facts are we will probably need to see cuts where I don’t want to see them, so then why are you also not willing to talk about raising revenue by closing tax loopholes and taking the tax rates back to where they were under President Clinton when the economy was strong?

So Mister Speaker now that you have been given a History lesson (which you already knew) lets get serious and stop this My way or the highway style of governing…  The President in my horror agreed to put the entitlement programs on the table, and you still can’t talk about raising taxes, even though you know it has nothing to do with job creation.

When are we going to Wake up America ?

Challenge to the Tea Party From a True American

March 15th, 2011

If the Tea Party is serious about a Government of the people, by the people, and for the people then this is my challenge.

If you truly want to give this Government back to the people then I challenge you to demand all Tea Part elective officials, both State and Federal to immediately introduce a bill that will make it illegal for government elected officials and their staff to work with, take money from or meet with special interest groups and or lobbyists without full discloser to the American people, by means of video recordings of every conversation that then will be made available to every American citizen viva the Internet.

This one law would change American politics and give the power of Government back to the people more than anything else you can do, including cutting taxes and budgets.

If you are truly serous about a government of the people, by the people, and for the people you will do this today, but I predict that your candidates will ignore your request.  I predict that Governor Walker of Wisconsin will not take his billionaire backers off his speed dial, no more than the Governor Corbett of PA will take the natural gas industry off of his.

I can hear you now, saying we can’t do this because it would infringe on these lobbyists freedom of speech… to this I say these lobbyists can continue to run their ads in the paper, radio and TV to get their message to the people that vote not directly to the politician. Why should they have an access to a Governor that I don’t have?

Then it is the responsibility of the FTC to use the truth in advertising law to make certain that these left and right wing organizations are telling the truth in their advertisements.  No more repeating half-truths and outright lies over and over again, playing the American people as fools.  The FTC needs to do their job and protect the American people from deceptive ads by shutting them down and issuing heavy fines on these organizations.

These changes would do more for America than any law passed in the last 25 years and would give the power back to the people.  Sadly I know that you will not take me up on this challenge, because your leadership will not allow it.

I will even go as far as to give you the benefit of doubt that in the beginning the Tea Party really did believe they were working to give the power of governing this country back to the individual, but I fear the Tea Party was shanghaied along the way by special interest groups looking to use this populous movement to further their grip on American politicians.

Now special interest is using your name to divide the working class in this country and pit middle class non-union workers against middle class union workers.  I know this goes against your belief that all American citizens have the right to the pursuit of happiness and The Right to Earn a Living given by our Constitution… Right?

I know you cannot truly be against Americans earning as much money as they possibly can and that you really don’t believe that Teachers are the blame for our countries financial difficulties.  I know that the propaganda being spread by the actual Wall Street bankers (that did cause this mess), to entice you to help them divide and conquer the middle class is not a true Tea Party agenda.

Although this might have not been your original intent, the Tea Party has been taken over by special interest groups and now their will is being served and sadly this means there will be NO government of the people, by the people, and for the people.  The Tea Part has lost its voice as a grass roots organization of common everyday people trying to make this country better. It has proven that what might have started as true democracy, has followed the path of the other two parties and has been bought out by those that have the most money to contribute.

You can prove me wrong by simply taking me up on my challenge and start introducing bills across America that takes our government back from the lobbyists and special interest groups. That is the only way our Government will ever be of the people, by the people, and for the people, and until this happens America will continue to be bought by the highest bidder.

So Tea Party are you up for the challenge, or will your inaction prove that you also sold out the American people that thought you might have been something different?

Government Makes 12 Billion Profit On CitiGroup Stock

December 7th, 2010

One year ago the government balled out Citigroup with a $45 billion dollar investment… today they sold the last of the stock owned by the government and end up with $57 billion dollars that’s a $12 billion dollar profits!

So much for the loom and doom Republicans screaming about the bailouts costing tax payers money… last month it was GM and now Citigroup, we should make money on ever bailout!

While this is good news and for you and me $12 Billion is a lot of money, the President’s balless compromise that caved into the Republican demands to extend the tax breaks for the rich for two more year, is estimated to cost the Government close to $600 billion dollars.

The Republicans did give the President his extensions  for the unemployed as part of the deal… interesting Republicans said they would not extend this unless the President showed how he would pay for it, but now that He caved and gave the rich the tax breaks the Republicans demanded they seem to have forgotten that… so much for the Republicans getting serious about debt reduction!

Now lets see how many jobs the rich create with this tax savings… remember this is the same money they have been saving on their taxes for the last 10 years, so if the Republicans say they need these low rates because it will create jobs, I would ask how we are in this mess to begin with if that truly is the answer.

Come on America Wake Up!

Republicans Hold You Hostage For The Rich

December 6th, 2010

Right now this very minute the Republicans in the Senate are holding unemployment compensation  and middle class tax cuts hostage, until Democrats give in and extend tax breaks for the rich.

Even though Democrats tried to compromise and upped the middle class tax cuts from families making $250,000 up to include those making $1,000.000 the Republicans have dug in and refuse to compromise. They have said they will not vote for any extensions nor will they vote to extend unemployment compensation if the Democrats don’t extend tax breaks for the rich.

Even though 53% of Americans want the tax rates for the rich to go back to what they were before the Bush tax cuts, and the majority of Americans think the National debt is an issue that must be addressed  the Republicans know better. These are the same people that accused the Democrats of ignoring the American people’s will for the last two years.

The Republicans say raising taxes on the rich will kill job creation… the rates have been this low for the last 9 years and unemployment is at it’s highest rate in 25 years so how does that hold up?

Warren Buffett Tells ABC Rich People Should Pay Higher Taxes

Buffett has been outspoken in his quest to get the federal government to raise taxes on high income earners, and repeated his support of higher taxes on the program. Amanpour asked if he thought that all Bush-era tax cuts should come to an end, as advocated by Alan Greenspan, but Buffett said, “No . . . actually you might extend them further for the lower class, middle class and maybe upper middle class but I think that you should raise taxes on the very rich.” He pointed out that during his life, capital gains taxes had been at 39.6% and taxes on earned income had stood at 70%, “and our economy did just fine.”

He also pointed out a previously much-publicized fact–that he pays less income tax than his employees; something he does not consider fair. He told of how he’d done “this little survey” in his office, with 16 people who responded. “And I had the lowest tax rate of the 16.” He explained further that he didn’t have tax shelters or a planner to cut his tax bill; “It was all courtesy of the U.S. Congress. I mean, they did my tax planning for me. And, literally, the average for the office, counting payroll taxes, was 32% and mine was 16 and a fraction percent.”

Buffett is not the only rich person saying his taxes should go up, when Bill Gates was asked the question he also said the tax rates for the rich should go back to what they were before the Bush tax cuts.

So the question is why are the Republicans willing to hold the middle class hostage for something that no one says is good for the country?  The truth is there is a large group of people making over $250,000 per year that are due to get their yearly big fat bonus checks that are very much in favor of what the Republicans are doing… these are the traders on Wall-Street.

These people make tons of money no matter what they do for their clients, many of these bonuses are tied to trading transactions, not necessarily what they made for their clients… how many jobs do you think these people will create with their tax breaks?

Even though the elected Tea Party candidates won’t start until January, why are they remaining silent about this 10 trillion dollar give-away to the rich, if they indeed are worried about the National debt?

So lets just make things clear…

America is pissed at the Democrats because they passed a health care bill that will eventually make certain all Americans have access to health insurance and over time lower the cost of health care.

So now the Republicans take over and the first thing they do is let Wall Street keep their tax break and vote against unemployment compensation for millions of Americans that can’t find work right before Christmas.

Of the two which one had your best interest at heart? The biggest problem with the new health care legislation is that it gave insurance companies to much time to raise rates before everything kicked in… that and the fact that there was no public option to put pressure on the insurance companies to hold premiums down.

Democrats need to get some balls, and America needs to wake-up!

Time To Vote America

November 1st, 2010

No matter what side of the fence you are on, let’s agree the best thing you can do tomorrow is VOTE!

Just do me a favor and vote on the facts… contrary to modern beliefs even if you repeat a lie a million times it’s still a lie and it can never be turned into the truth.

If you are headed out to vote to take back America, I would just ask you truthfully answer these questions before you place your vote.

1.       Who are you taking America back from and who you going to give it to next?

2.       Do you look forward to Social Security in your golden years? If so you can’t be part of the Tea Party movement.

3.       Do you understand that the Federal tax rates have not been lower since 1941?  So why is the Tea Party movement based on high taxes?

4.       Do you really believe that it is fiscal responsible to lower taxes at the same time you have two wars to finance? That is what the Republicans did the last time they controlled congress and the Whitehouse.

5.       Do you know the real costs of what is being called the bailouts of Wall Street?  Do some research, you will be surprised how little this has costs us to date, and when it’s all said and done the Government could even make money…. Was that worth saving the thousands of automotive jobs just to mention one thing?

These are just a few things to think about between now and when you vote… do your homework America, but Vote!
