Question For Tea Part Members

September 21st, 2010

1.       Do you really believe that we should privatize SSN and Medicare?  I ask this because 50% of you are over 50 and I find it hard to believe you would support the Tea Part on this issue.

2.       Do you really believe that Taxes should be lower, even though the rates have not been this low since 1941?

3.       Do you really believe that Unemployment compensation is a Government hand that should be eliminated?

4.       Do you really agree that we should open up and have unrestricted exploration for oil, even after the Gulf oil spill disaster proved the oil companies had no real plan on how to deal with this environmental disaster?

5.       Do you really believe that Big business with no government regulation would have this Countries best interest in mind when doing business?  Please remember that it was the lack of regulation that caused the banking crisis that has this country in its current depression.

6.       Do you really believe that if you repeal the new student loan program and give those loans back to for-profit organizations that this would help more students get an education?  Remember those profits are paid out of the money budgeted by the Government for student loans.

7.        Do you really see Sarah Palin as your leader?…  Really? Can a quitter be a good Presidential candidate?  She has definitely proven she believes in her constitutional rights to pursuit happiness or in her case step away from her obligations as Governor of a State to pursue speaking fees and happiness for herself.

8.       Do you really think that everything wrong in this Country is because of the governing of the last 21 months?

9.       Do you really think that the financial crisis and economic problems inherited by this administration in 2008, could be fixed in 21 months?

Please any Tea Party members, these are simple straight forward questions, could you please answer them for me.

Who Is The Tea Party – What Do They Want – Do They Even Know?

September 20th, 2010

I have been promising to post something about the Tea Party movement for some time now, but have found it to be a difficult subject to find much substance to comment about.  I have set out to do a post many times over the last 30 days, but while doing research (over six hours so far) all I find is what they are against and not much information on how they plan to make these changes they claim our country needs.

I have decided that now that some of their candidates are winning primary elections I do need to make a post… I have also decided that it would be best if I make this a series of posts, first starting with who they are and what they stand for, and then I’ll do research and make individual posts on some of these candidates.

I guess one of the best places to start, would be to post their “Mission Statement” which I found on this site http://www.teapartypatriots.org/Mission.aspx

See My below Comments in Red

Tea Party Patriots Mission Statement and Core Values

Mission Statement

The impetus for the Tea Party movement is excessive government spending and taxation. Our mission is to attract, educate, organize, and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with our three core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets.

According to this site “U.S. Federal Individual Income Tax Rates History, 1913-2010” the federal tax rates that Bush put into play on 2002 are the lowest rates seen by our country clear back to 1941…  go to the site and see for yourself.

So in light of this fact the “impetus” for the movement has been cut in half right out of the gate.

Core Values

  • Fiscal Responsibility
  • Constitutionally Limited Government
  • Free Markets

Fiscal Responsibility: Fiscal Responsibility by government honors and respects the freedom of the individual to spend the money that is the fruit of their own labor. A constitutionally limited government, designed to protect the blessings of liberty, must be fiscally responsible or it must subject its citizenry to high levels of taxation that unjustly restrict the liberty our Constitution was designed to protect. Such runaway deficit spending as we now see in Washington D.C. compels us to take action as the increasing national debt is a grave threat to our national sovereignty and the personal and economic liberty of future generations.

The National debt only becomes a grave threat if it can’t be sold, and today China will purchase through the bond market all the debt we want to sell.

If the National debt is one of their primary concerns, they are about 8 years late… it was very predictable that if you cut revenue with tax cuts and start two wars that you have to fund, that the country had to go in debt to pay for them.

Constitutionally Limited Government: We, the members of The Tea Party Patriots, are inspired by our founding documents and regard the Constitution of the United States to be the supreme law of the land. We believe that it is possible to know the original intent of the government our founders set forth, and stand in support of that intent. Like the founders, we support states’ rights for those powers not expressly stated in the Constitution. As the government is of the people, by the people and for the people, in all other matters we support the personal liberty of the individual, within the rule of law.

All I want to point out here is what they say “We, the members of The Tea Party Patriots, are inspired by our founding documents and regard the Constitution of the United States to be the supreme law of the land.”

I’ll explain why that is so funny later.

Free Markets: A free market is the economic consequence of personal liberty. The founders believed that personal and economic freedom were indivisible, as do we. Our current government’s interference distorts the free market and inhibits the pursuit of individual and economic liberty. Therefore, we support a return to the free market principles on which this nation was founded and oppose government intervention into the operations of private business.

There has never been a totally free market anyplace in the world… If we had a true free market as they are describing with no government involvement in the operations of private business, then I agree US businesses would be booming and our unemployment would probably be closer to 0% than 10% where it is now.

Problem is you would be making $5.00/ hr or less and working conditions without Federally mandated safety regulations would vary from Unsafe to Good, depending on the company… it would be totally up to them what they wanted to pay, and how you were treated.

BUT… we would be able to compete with the rest of the world… are you willing to give up your high wages and workers rights as the Tea Party would ask you to do?

Our Philosophy

Tea Party Patriots, Inc. as an organization believes in the Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government, and Free Markets. Tea Party Patriots, Inc. is a non-partisan grassroots organization of individuals united by our core values derived from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill Of Rights as explained in the Federalist Papers. We recognize and support the strength of grassroots organization powered by activism and civic responsibility at a local level. We hold that the United States is a republic conceived by its architects as a nation whose people were granted “unalienable rights” by our Creator. Chiefly among these are the rights to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The Tea Party Patriots stand with our founders, as heirs to the republic, to claim our rights and duties which preserve their legacy and our own. We hold, as did the founders, that there exists an inherent benefit to our country when private property and prosperity are secured by natural law and the rights of the individual.

Now let’s take a look at what the Tea Part is calling their “Contract From Americains”

You can find it on this site: http://dailycaller.com/2010/02/15/tea-party-leaders-ask-voters-to-help-draft-contract-from-america/

Contract From Americans

  • Amending the constitution to require a balanced budget and a two-thirds majority for any tax hike.

HOLD THE HORSES!!! STOP THE PRESSES!  What the hell happened to say “We, the members of The Tea Party Patriots, are inspired by our founding documents and regard the Constitution of the United States to be the supreme law of the land.”

The first thing they want to do is amend the supreme law of the land… WTF

  • Permanently repealing all tax hikes scheduled to begin in 2011.

Kind of goes against facial responsibility to turn away revenue when your broke, but whatever.

  • Requiring every bill in Congress to be made public seven days before any vote can be taken and all government expenditures authorized by any bill to be easily accessible on the Internet before the money is spent.

Sounds good to me…   The average Tea Bagger or anyone else for that matter will not know what their reading, but someone might.

  • Requiring each bill to identify the specific provision of the Constitution that gives Congress the power to do what the bill does.

Interesting concept might be a good thing and save a lot of court costs challenging laws in the Supreme courts. Don’t know what would happen to all those gray area though.

  • Permitting all health insurance plans to be sold anywhere in the United States through the purchase of insurance across state lines. Allow small businesses and associations to pool together across state lines to buy insurance.

This would probably really work good when combined with their free market demands which would then stop the Government from stopping the three or four major insurance companies from buying up all the smaller companies across the country, and then hold us hostage to their prices.

BTW if Government needs to get out of the way, there will be no more need for them to request rate hikes before they implement them… that regulatory agency will be gone.

  • Adopting a simple and fair single-rate tax system by scrapping the internal revenue code and “replacing it with one that is no longer than 4,543 words — the length of the original Constitution.”

Can’t say I’m totally against this, although I have no idea what the length of the Constitution has to do with it.  Do they understand that by scraping the current tax codes and replacing as they are suggestion will mean an even bigger tax hike on the rich than Obama is trying to implement now?

You can’t simplify the tax code without doing away with the special loop holes and right offs for the rich.

  • Imposing a statutory cap limiting the annual growth in total federal spending to the sum of inflation rate plus the percentage of population growth.

So let me get this right… it doesn’t matter if we are fighting two wars, or the infrastructure of the Nation is in shambles, we are only to look at inflation and population growth to determine spending needs… if it was only that simple!

  • Allowing Americans to opt out of Social Security and Medicare and instead put those same payroll taxes in a personal account “they own, control and can leave to whomever they choose.”

Great idea, just look at the fabulous 401k results in 2007 – 2008 ½ how would you to try and plan a retirement on this unknown?

Don’t worry though, because there will be no Government involvement into your personal rights, when you mess up and blow these funds, you will have the right to work until you die.

  • Preventing any regulation or tax on the Internet.

Bring on the kiddies porn, child molesters and scam artists.

While I’ll agree the Government has gone further than I like on regulating some things on the Internet, can you see how stupid it is to ask for NO regulation?

  • Improving education by eliminating ineffective and wasteful programs, giving parents more choices from pre-school to high school and improving the affordability of higher education.

Sounds good… means nothing but sounds good.

  • Authorizing the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries and reduce regulatory barriers to all other forms of energy creation, lowering prices and creating competition.

DRILL BABY DRILL… ENOUGH SAID!

  • Prohibiting the Federal Communications Commission from using funds to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.
  • Creating a Blue Ribbon task force that engages in a complete audit of federal agencies and programs.

I thought we already had this… I could be wrong. Or is this one of the agencies that would first be eliminated whiles the Tea Party down sizes Government, only to re-start under another name.

  • Blocking state and local governments that receive federal grants from exercising eminent domain over private property for the primary purpose of economic development or enhancement of tax revenues.

I suspect eminent domain has been used both for the good of the people and against the people, depending on the circumstances.

This is another one of those gray areas, nothing is as black and white as to pass a law blocking it’s use.

  • Preventing the EPA from implementing costly new regulations.

Drill baby drill.. Pollute baby pollute, because Sahara Palin says global warming is not manmade!

Also get use to your gas mileage never improving… EVER AGAIN!

  • Placing a moratorium on all earmarks until the process is fully transparent. Also requiring a two-thirds majority to pass any earmark.

I have no real problem with this.

  • Making all lawmaking regulators, including presidential appointed czars, be affirmatively approved by Congress and signed into law by the president.
  • Audit the Federal Reserve System.
  • Making sure the federal government does not bail out private companies. The government should also immediately divest itself of its stake in the private companies it owns from recent bailouts.

You think the National unemployment rate is high now, if the Government would not have bailed out the Auto industry it would be at least another 5% higher.

Also the government will make money on the stakes they took in these bail outs, the companies are now profitable.

  • Amending the constitution to require congressional term limits. No person shall be elected to the Senate more than twice or to the House of Representatives more than four times.

Another change to the constitution being proposed by the keepers of the law of the land!

  • Making all regulations “sunset” after 10 years unless renewed by congressional vote.

We can’t even get Congress to pass laws the first time… you know how much this would muck up the system, they would never get anything new done.

  • Broadcasting all non-security meetings and votes on C-SPAN and the Internet.

This sounds good to me.

So there you have it, my first post on the Tea Party… look for more to come soon.

Comments welcome as always.

Fox News Making Up The News Again

September 12th, 2010

Sean Hannity and the fox news organization decided to edit the real news into something that would make for better news for thier mostly right wing audience.

On 9/8 while talking about the Presidents speech on the economy Hannity said; “Now the president did have a rare moment of honesty during his speech and I hope voters around the country are watching this.” He played a clip of Obama saying, “Taxes are scheduled to go up substantially next year. For everybody.”

What fox edited out of the video clip was the fact that the President was telling the American people that the Bush tax cuts were designed to go away this January by design… the law when passed will end this year.  That is how the law was wrote by the then Republicain run government.

Why then is Fox news and the Republicain part distorting the facts and trying to say the Democrats are going to raise your taxes, when in reality taxes are due to go up based on the way they wrote to law.  The fact that the President campaigned on the fact that he wanted to exstend the Bush tax cuts for 98%  of the American people, and he is now trying to make good on that tax cut, is being manipulated into him wanting to raise taxes on the rich is just insane!

I’ll say it once again so I am clear… the Bush tax cuts by design of the way they wrote the law is scedualed to end this year which means everyones taxes would go up, if the President does not get his tax cuts passed.

The Republicains want you to believe that if the tax rates go back to what they were in the Clinton administration for those making over 250K, that they will hurt small business owners, when in reality less than 2% of small businesses report on their tax returns 250k or more, so these tax rates will not negatively effect small business growth.

Also by letting the tax cuts for those making over 250k go away as scheduled, this will help curve the out of control national debt by bring in more tax revenue.

So my question is if the Republicain part is serious about being the party of tax cuts and debt reductions, they should be loving Obama’s plan… Maybe that’s why Fox news and the Republicain party needs to resort to deception to confuse the American people.

U.S. Pastor Could Kill U.S. Troops

September 7th, 2010

How could a Pastor of a congregation of just 50 people in Florida help kill U.S. troops in the Middle East?

Simple, be stupid enough to organize a public burning of the Qurans to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and be lucky enough to have main stream news organizations advertise your stupidity.

Pastor Terry Jones says

“Our message is very clear,” he said. “It is not to the moderate Muslim. Our message is not a message of hate. Our message is a message of warning to the radical element of Islam, and I think what we see right now around the globe provides exactly what we’re talking about,” he said.”

So to send a message to the few thousand that make up the radical elements of Islam he is ready to insult 1.5 billion Muslims. If he caries out his threads he will single handily recruit more terrorists for radical Islamic groups than Muhammad Bin Laden and possibly be responsible for killing more American troops than the terrorists he wishes to send his message.

This is once again a good example of how even a crazy vocal minority can outweigh the sanity of the silent majority and change the world negatively for years to come.

While some would say Jones’s burning of the Quaran is protected by the first Amendment, I would say that the warnings given by

Gen. David Petraeus, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, who said

” the burning of Islam’s holy books “could cause significant problems” for American troops overseas.

“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort in Afghanistan,” he said in a statement issued Monday.

With about 120,000 U.S. and NATO-led troops still battling al Qaeda and its allies in the Islamic fundamentalist Taliban movement, Petraeus warned that burning Qurans “is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems — not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community.”

Petraeus said he was concerned about the political repercussions of the church’s plan.

“Even the rumor that it might take place has sparked demonstrations such as the one that took place in Kabul yesterday,” he said. “Were the actual burning to take place, the safety of our soldiers and civilians would be put in jeopardy and accomplishment of the mission would be made more difficult.”

He said extremists would use images of burning Qurans to inflame public opinion and incite violence.”

means this is a exception under the first amendment that says speech that incites imminent danger is not protected.

I truthfully think Jones will come to his senses and not insult 1.5 billion people for the sake of a few, and even though he will probably never admit his ignorance, he will not burn the Quran… my fear that even if this Church does not burn the Quran, they have already planted the seeds and some group will follow through with this stupid idea.

If this happens the blood of all American troops killed in retaliation for this will be on the hands of Pastor Jones, no matter who actually does the burning.

Come on America “Wake Up” !

A Silent Majority Lose

September 6th, 2010

It continues to amaze me as how the minority in the 2008 elections continue to get away with re-writing the truth.

Every time I hear that the democrats are passing laws against what the American people want I could scream!

Obama was very clear about where he stood on the major issues and what he would do if he got elected, and this President has run more major bills through Congress in his first two years than any other President in history… not to mention he is the only President in either party that kept their promise on health care reform.

Both parties have talked about needing to address health care for over 40 years, but not until now has anything actually been done.

To hear the right wing, you would think the Democrats back doored a health care bill without the support of the American people, but the American people voted Obama into office and he campaigned heavily on passing a health care bill.

Lets look at what the President promised during his campaign and what he has done sense in office.

If you look at http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/ you can see they track just this…  they list 500 promises and rank each one according to his accomplishments.

They go into detail on each promise and it is well worth your time to take a look at their site, but here is a break down.

500 promises

121 promises kept

39 compromised

22 promised broken

81 stalled

240 in the works

3 not yet rated

The problem is the minority are getting all the press… the Tea party movement is the new hot topic, but they are a very small group with a very radical agenda that we as Americans should be aware of.  I will be blogging more about them soon.

The thing is they are being allowed to re-write history and based on voodoo propaganda spread lies with the intent that if they say a lie enough times it will be viewed as the truth.

You and I need to look for the real truth and then spread it… no matter who wins these elections we need to select our leaders based on the truth.  We can’t allow the people that run this country be elected based on lies that are so easy to proven as such.
